It’s 2023, Let’s Take a Second Look at how Model-Based Estimating has Evolved
This presentation puts forward new model-based estimating concepts that provide a scalable methodology for design and preconstruction teams to collaborate from the project model as a “single source of truth“ for the project team.  While this approach will work for many design and estimating collaborations, it suits design-build efforts particularly well because it encourages and enhances the communication flow on a project. This new workflow overcomes many of the challenges model-based estimating encountered in its earlier forms that burdened the design team unnecessarily and prevented widespread adoption and scalability.  Therefore, from a designer’s perspective, it enhances collaboration with the preconstruction team by allowing rapid design iterations and examination of options that maximize programming, planning, and design opportunities.
