DfMA: From Concept to Reality

Call for Presentations

BIMForum invites proposals for presentations at DfMA: From Concept to Reality, a focused industry conference examining how Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA) is being implemented across the building lifecycle.

As industrialized construction, off-site fabrication, and manufacturing-informed workflows expand, DfMA is increasingly central to improving predictability, productivity, and performance. Yet implementation remains inconsistent and often disconnected from procurement, information standards, and contractual frameworks.

This conference seeks practical, experience-based presentations that advance industry understanding of how DfMA works in real projects.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking case studies, implementation frameworks, and research-informed insights that address:

Early Design & Feasibility

  • When and how DfMA decisions are initiated
  • Owner strategy and procurement alignment
  • Feasibility analysis and business case development

Design Development & Documentation

  • Transition from design intent to fabrication-ready information
  • Coordination between designers and fabricators
  • Information requirements supporting manufacturing

Fabrication & Manufacturing

  • Off-site production workflows
  • Model-based fabrication and digital integration
  • Supply chain coordination and risk management

Design Development & Documentation

  • Field logistics and sequencing
  • Tolerance management and quality control
  • Commissioning and operational handoff

We welcome presentations that candidly address challenges, lessons learned, and measurable outcomes — not only successes.

Who Should Submit

Owners and developers

Architects and engineers

Contractors and construction managers

Fabricators and manufacturers

BIM and digital delivery leaders

Researchers and industry collaborators

Preferred Proposal Characteristics

Strong submissions will be Grounded in actual projects – completed or currently under way

Panels representing multiple stakeholders (e.g., owner + designer + contractor + fabricator) are encouraged.

Ties to sustainability / carbon reduction encouraged

Intended Outcomes

This conference aims to:

  • Establish a shared vocabulary around DfMA implementation
  • Identify repeatable, scalable practices
  • Clarify intersections between DfMA, digital delivery, and standards
  • Inform broader industry coordination efforts
