We’ve come a long way, baby

It’s hard to believe BIMForum is 17.

We’ve made some major strides since our humble beginnings in 2005—gathered in a hotel in Memphis to learn about 3D modeling. We saw how technology brought the team together and allowed everyone to learn from different perspectives, and we knew we could make a difference among our peers who work with BIM standards and built assets.

Since then, we put our heart and soul into making BIMForum a place where people could connect to help advance their projects as well as their careers. And we’re proud of what we’ve accomplished: an outlet where people in the building industry can feel connected, empowered, and armed with valuable new insights to move their work forward.

Whether it’s our annual LOD Specification Guide, our industry involvement as the U.S. Chapter of BuildSMART, or our popular and well-attended events and workshops, we haven’t just become a place for visioning and learning. We’ve become the place. In fact, a common preface to many a-ha moments and insights is, “It happened at BIMForum.”

Although we have accomplished quite a bit in the last 17 years, we feel like we’re just getting started. To continue to be agents of change, it’s time for us to evolve as well. We are in the process of revamping our website to better showcase who we are and reflect our vision and values. And we remain committed to harnessing the power of technology to offer more resources, more remote learning, and more networking opportunities.

We are thrilled about how far we’ve come—and we’re even more excited to see where the next 17 years will take us as we continue to change the future of BIM.
