BIM BUILT – TEAM DYNAMICS IN A BIM ENVIRONMENT TRACK //

BIM Built – Team Dynamics in a BIM Environment (Lego Activity)

Benjamin Crosby, Yates Construction

BIM is not easy, and the multitude of project requirements can be difficult to meet. If the project team is thrown a model they might not be aware of how to use it, and many of the people who create models do not have experience in using them.

During this session, Lego Blocks were used to simulate a VDC experience and to demonstrate the benefits of an active BIM process over passive 3D processes.  The participants had to maintain quality, schedule and scope while integrating a VDC workflow.

Learning objectives:

  1. How BIM and Lean are incorporated into traditional practices.
  2. How to improve project performance.
  3. Why it can be difficult for teams to adopt new practices.
  4.  What can be done to improve our VDC practices.
  5. Play with Legos!!
