BIMForum members will be congregating at the AGC Building Division Meeting from June 20th until the 23rd to continue and expand discussions on national standards, academic curriculum, legal documents, interoperability and other BIM-related issues. The goal of the work of the attending members will be to produce practical, usable deliverables such as model exchange documents and a best practices guide.
One of the most anticipated meetings is the joint subforum meeting between the Designers’ Subforum, the Builders’ Subforum & the Legal Subforum.
The three groups will get together to discuss the scope of design v. construction work in the model. So many people think, at some level, that BIM tends to blur the distention between design and construction; therefore, these same folks might think that it follows that you can’t draft a contract to delineate what is a design deliverable from a construction deliverable. This discussion will focus directly on this issue, so that the members will be in a better position to articulate the differences.
